Healthy, Easy dog food and treat recipes?

Title says it all, really. I'd like to treat my dogs to something good (preferably without meat. My mother doesn't like the idea of 'wasting' meat on the dogs) And I'd like to make some easy homemade treats to help train them. Any ideas from anyone?Healthy, Easy dog food and treat recipes?
Beef heart. It is meat, however it is a very inexpensive meat, and not one that is typically eaten by humans (which should help with the waste issue). We get them from our local butcher for around $5.00 each, let them thaw out (they store the hearts frozen), put a lot of minced garlic and salt on them, and then cook 'em up like a roast. There is plenty of scent to attract the dog, good taste, and a great value for the money spent.Healthy, Easy dog food and treat recipes?
Dogs are carnivores. If your mom says you cant ';waste'; it on the dogs, then stick with a high quality dog food. If your mom becomes open to the idea of feeding meat, then go ahead with homemade recipes.

If you want to convince your mom feeding meat is a good idea, look at these sites and gather up the cost. Just to let you know, it is cheaper to feed a high quality kibble or a homemade raw diet, than low quality kibble.

Here is what I found out:

Lower quality food(eukanuba)- $44 dollars for 35lb bag bought every week and I fed 6 cups every day.

High quality food(Innova by natura pet)- $50dollars for a 33lb bag every two weeks and I fed 4 cups a day.

Over a course of a month:

The eukanuba would cost me $176 dollars.

The innova would cost me around $100.

(That is calculated for my great dane only.)

The lower quality you go, the more you have to feed to give the dog the nutrition it needs. If you really need to find a cheap way to feed your dog without sacrificing quality, feed raw.

It is the ultimate diet, yet the cheapest diet for dogs. A rule most raw feeders follow is to stay under 1 dollar a pound.

Dogs are supposed to have meat, bones, and organs, preferably fresh, wholesome, and unprocessed. This is why many feed a homemade raw diet.

ww.rawfed.com/myths

www.rawmeatybones.com

www.rawlearning.com

http://www.shirleys-wellness-cafe.com/sa鈥?/a>

A raw diet is typically cheaper than kibble worth buying.

For a dog fed raw, it is typically 2 to 3 percent of the dogs ideal body weight. If the dog is a pup(under 18 months for most dogs) it can be around 10% of the dogs body weight. Most raw feeders start at one percentage and adjust it as needed.

This site can tell you some great info about dogs and their diets.

http://www.bigdogsporch.com/index.php

A raw diet is even better for dogs and saves you money.

A rule is to keep the meat under a dollar per pound.

I actually spend around $100 on 150lbs of meat and used to spend $200 a month on the innova for my three dogs. If you present a good strong presentation about your dogs diets to your mom in a respectful manner, she should listen, although she may need convincing from others experienced with feeding homemade diets.

www.bigdogsporch.com Here is a forum that can help you learn about homemade/raw feeding.

I would do your research, then present your findings to your mom. It my not convince her right away, but it should spark an interest.

Note: Do not ask a vet for nutritional information. Ask a canine nutritionist if you have questions about dogs diets. www.dogfoodguru.com is one I know of.

I need easy vacuum sealed food recipes for camping, any ideas?

We are camping with 13 people and I don't want to spend all day cooking. We have a vacuum sealer that we use for freezing, but thought maybe we could prepare meals, freeze and store...then boil (like they did on TV) but I have no food vision. What can I prepare ahead, freeze and boil? What can I just throw together in the bag, freeze and boil (not cooked before)? Spaghetti is all I can think of.

Please help.I need easy vacuum sealed food recipes for camping, any ideas?

Lentils Rice and Sausage: Sautee 1 pound of sausage, cut into coins--once sausage is browned, drain on paper towels. Heat 1 or 2 tablespoons of oil and sautee 1 chopped onion and 1 chopped red bell pepper until tender--throw the sausage back into the mix, add 1 can (15 oz?) chicken broth (preferably low salt); 1/2 cup lentils, and 1/2 cup uncooked long grain rice. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 1 hour. Sometimes I add some spinach (fresh or frozen works) 15 minutes before it is done.
sauage and mash with baked beans!!!
OMG... I have loads... Well practised at living on a shoestring you see!!!

If you like pasta, just cook some pasta and in another saucepan cook some onions, peppers, garlic and either tinned chopped tomatoes or halved cherry tomatoes. Once all heated and pasta cooked, pile tomatoes etc on top of pasta and grate cheese on the top.... Its lush!!! And you are getting some veg in!!! Takes about 15 mins... You can also put some bacon on top of the tomatoes and grate cheese over that if you like!!!

Or brown some cubed or sliced chicken in a frying pan, add peppers, onions, garlic and whatever else you want... Add a little bit of pasta sauce to mix it all together and serve on white rice...

Lastly (cause its nearly home time!!!) my personal favourite, two slices of ham, two fried eggs, some chips and peas for a good old ';makeshift dinner';!!! LOVELY!!!

Its amazing what great meals you can rustle up when you are using left over stuff from the cupboard and fridge!!! Just be adventurous!!!

  • Easy Mexican Foods recipes..I need to feed about 50 people.?

My sons football team has a team dinner every week and we have a new theme for every meal. Next week is Mexican so if anyone can help me out with ideas for main course and desert ideas I would be greatly appreciative.

Thanks to all in advance.Easy Mexican Foods recipes..I need to feed about 50 people.?
Flan is a traditional mexican custard. Here is a link to several recipes for it. You can change the number of servings to how ever many you need and it will change the measurements for you.

    http://www.recipezaar.com/recipes.php?q=鈥?/a>

Also, Chicken enchilades and mexican soup would be a good idea.

    Enchilades:

    Sauce:

sour cream, chicken broth, monterey jack cheese, green chiles (you can use rotel instead if you want tomatoes in it).

Heat broth of med. heat and stir in sour cream. When this gets creamy, add the cheese and chiles. Stir until cheese melts. Remove from heat.

    Enchilades:

Spray bottom of casserole dish w/ pam.

Pour a bit of sauce in bottom of pan.

    Layer flour tortillas.

    Sauce.

Chicken (you can cook this yourself, OR use canned chicken to save time if you'd like- still tastes good)

    Sauce

    Tortillas

    chicken

    sauce

    tortillas

Etc.... Until you have enough layers (pan is full, etc...)

Top the final layer of tortillas with more sauce then sprinkle additional cheese on top.

Bake at 350 for 20 minutes (or until heated through).

    Soup:

In a crock pot (or stock pot if you want to use the stove), cook dried pinto beans according to directions. When beans are almost fully softened, add approx 1 clove of garlic (I use minced).

Brown ground beef in skillet. Drain.

When beans are cooked through, add ground beef, taco seasoning, rice (I honestly use minute rice here, but its your choice. Also, make sure you have enough liquid in you beans to account for the rice absorbtion! More liquid if you want a lot of broth in your soup, less if you want it thick.)and rotel tomatoes.

Cook on med.-high until rice is cooked through.

The quantities on the soup are fairly simple. For every pound of dried beans, I use a pound of burger and 1 cup of uncooked rice. One pound of beans/ meat will make approx 8 very nice sized servings.

    Increase amounts accordingly.

Ok, that said: I cook my beans in the crock pot on low all night and all the next day while I am at work so they are really tender. When I get home from work, I put the beans in a stock pot and bring to a boil, cook the meat and add it, the rice, the rotels, and seasoning then. Again, I use minute rice so it will be done faster. (Usually about 15 minutes or so after all is added.)Easy Mexican Foods recipes..I need to feed about 50 people.?
Tacos or Beef enchiladas they are quick and easy.
Mexican pizza always good and yummy.

    1/2 pound ground beef

    1/2 teaspoon salt

    1/4 teaspoon dried minced onion

    1/4 teaspoon paprika

    1 1/2 teaspoon chili powder

    2 tablespoons water

8 small (6-inch diameter) flour tortillas

1 cup Crisco shortening or cooking oil

1 (16 oz) can refried beans

    1/3 cup diced tomato

    2/3 cup mild picante salsa

    1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese

    1/4 cup chopped green onions

    1/4 cup sliced black olives

Cook the ground beef over medium heat until brown, then drain off the excess fat from the pan. Add salt, onions, paprika, chili powder and water, then let mixture simmer over medium heat for about 10 minutes. Stir often. Heat oil or Crisco shortening in a frying pan over medium-high heat. If oil begins to smoke, it is too hot. When oil is hot, fry each tortilla for about 30-45 seconds per side and set aside on paper towels. When frying each tortilla, be sure to pop any bubbles that form so that tortilla lays flat in oil. Tortillas should become golden brown. Heat up refried beans in a small pan over the stove or in the microwave. Preheat oven to 400F. When meat and tortillas are done, stack each pizza by first spreading about 1/3 cup refried beans on face of one tortilla. Next spread 1/4 to 1/3 cup of meat, then another tortilla. Coat your pizzas with two tablespoons of salsa on each, then split up the tomatoes and stack them on top. Next divide up the cheese, onions and olives, stacking in that order. Place pizzas in your hot oven for 8-12 minutes or until cheese on top is melted

I think Tacos and Enchiladas is a good choice...or you can buy some Fajita chicken and beef made by Tyson in the frozen food section and just heat that up with some flour tortillas and there you have some fajita tacos and you could add rice and beans on the side...for dessert I suggest flan....or sopapillas......Hope this helps...Good Luck!

i have these myself. they are greattttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt
    try this one..

    Chocolate, Chili, and Walnut Brownies

These treats have more flavors than an ordinary brownie--they also offer cinnamon and chili powder in addition to the chocolate

    Ingredients:

    1 cup (2 sticks) butter

    4 oz. unsweetened chocolate

    2 cups sugar

    1 tsp vanilla

2 Tbsp New Mexican Hatch Chili powder (if necessary, substitute other mild chili powder)

    2 Tbsp cinnamon

    3 eggs

    1/2 tsp salt

    3/4 cup flour

    1 1/2 cups chopped walnuts

    Method

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Melt the chocolate in a double boiler (or microwave) along with 1/2 cup (1 stick) of butter. Cool. Cream the remaining stick of butter, the sugar and vanilla with mixer. (Start with slow speed and increase gradually.) Add the chili powder and cinnamon. Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing after each. Grease and lightly flour a 13x9-inch pan. When the chocolate mixture has cooled, add to mixer and blend thoroughly. Mix salt into flour then add to mixture, beating at low speed just until combined. Finally, stir in chopped walnuts. Pour into pan and bake for 25 - 30 minutes. When a toothpick pulls out clean, your brownies are done.

Notes: Try this with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top and do not be afraid of the chili! It is a delightful blend with chocolate and cinnamon. For the best flavor experience, use New Mexican Hatch chili, grown, harvested and dried in Hatch, New Mexico. This powder is unique because all stems and seeds have been removed, leaving behind a smooth and vibrant flavor.
Set up a Taco Bar. That way they can wait on their self and you can be doing other things. Decorate the table Mexican theme. For dessert I would make cinnamon crisps. So simple. Brush flour tortillas with melted butter, sprinkle with cinnamon sugar. Bake on 350 degrees for about 10 minutes, cut into triangles with a pizza cutter. Set out a tub with cans of pop and ice.
    Hello!

A simple yet yummy idea everyone will absolutely love. Get a large can of nacho cheese sauce, pour into a slow cooker and set on low. You can add in shredded chicken, jalapenos etc. Serve with tortilla chips. Put out bowls and let them at it.

Remove rice to large mixing bowl, using same pot, bring milk to a near boil. Add rice to milk and continue cooking with a cover on the pot over a very low flame; stirring constantly (This is a good trick if you can stir constantly and keep a cover on the pot!)

Combine egg yolks, sugar and vanilla and blend together well. Fold this into the rice and blend.

Drain raisins that have been soaking and add to rice mixture stirring gently. Cook for another 5 minutes on a very low flame. Never scrape pot bottom during cooking.

Place in either a large pretty serving bowl or individual parfait glasses. Put dollops of whipped cream on top and sprinkle with dash of cinnamon.

    ENJOY!
Tacos, with beef and chicken, burritos, bean, beef and chicken.....Refried beans and rice. Fajitas. Quesidillas. You can make ground beef just add taco seasoning to it and it can make both tacos and burritos, same with the beans and rice....the fajitas you need flank steaks and chicken breast cooked and sliced and seasoned with lime and garlic......quesidillas are just melting cheese in between to tacos or fajita wraps (whatever is easier).....You could sort of set it out like a self serve type of thing, Just get some lettuce and tomato, and onions and cheese with some salsa and hot sauce. The quesidillas can be grilled or baked.

    Easy Civil War food recipes?

Hello, For my school project I'm making a Civil War dish, are there any cheap and easy ideas? ThanksEasy Civil War food recipes?
If you want the classic civil war ration, make some Hardtack. It's simple and authentic.

    Army Hardtack Recipe

    Ingredients:

    * 4 cups flour (perferably whole wheat)

    * 4 teaspoons salt

    * Water (about 2 cups)

    * Pre-heat oven to 375掳 F

    * Makes about 10 pieces

Mix the flour and salt together in a bowl. Add just enough water (less than two cups) so that the mixture will stick together, producing a dough that won鈥檛 stick to hands, rolling pin or pan. Mix the dough by hand. Roll the dough out, shaping it roughly into a rectangle. Cut into the dough into squares about 3 x 3 inches and 陆 inch thick.

After cutting the squares, press a pattern of four rows of four holes into each square, using a nail or other such object. Do not punch through the dough. The appearance you want is similar to that of a modern saltine cracker. Turn each square over and do the same thing to the other side.

Place the squares on an ungreased cookie sheet in the oven and bake for 30 minutes. Turn each piece over and bake for another 30 minutes. The crackers should be slightly brown on both sides.

The fresh crackers are easily broken but as they dry, they harden and assume the consistentency of fired brick.Easy Civil War food recipes?

    OR

    SAUSAGE AND APPLES

This old Virginia dish is easy and delicious. Start with about a pound of sausage meat. You can obtain the real stuff at most butchers but I suppose Jimmy Dean will do in a pinch. Form into patties and fry lightly in a pan until just browned. Remove the sausage, pour our the fat (not in the fire) and melt some butter in the pan, enough to barely cover the bottom. Core and slice three apples to a thickness of about 1/4 inch and place in pan setting it over a low heat. When apples have softened slightly add a half cup of brown sugar and a tablespoon of cinnamon. As soon as the sugar has mixed with the butter and formed a thick syrup add back the sausage and cook for another ten minutes or so.

Does anyone know of any easy recipe for cat food? What do cats like and what can they not eat?

The answer to your question is more complicated than you probably expected.

Read this for all you'll ever need to know about properly feeding your kitty a healthy, species-specific diet:

http://www.catinfo.orgDoes anyone know of any easy recipe for cat food? What do cats like and what can they not eat?
Home made cat food is a difficult thing. There are people who can tell you how to make it and web sites with recipes but I would talk you out of it. Cats are nutritionally complicated little buggers and I don't see why the cat food companies would have any interest in killing off their customers. Longer lived cats, more cat food sold right? If you must it's Taurine they need for their little hearts. DO NOT FEED A HOMEMADE DOG FOOD. CATS ARE NOT LITTLE DOGS. Sorry to shout but a cat on dog food will die.Does anyone know of any easy recipe for cat food? What do cats like and what can they not eat?
The catinfo site is great about what cats should eat. You can go to www.littlebigcat.com and read some of Jean Hovfe, DVM's articles on cat diets.

I consider my recipe for raw cat food easy. I use a commercial supplement powder to mix with my meat. Make up my ';meatloaf'; and freeze it, then thaw as needed. And then I have been doing it for seven years.

It is not ';easy'; in the sense that it takes a lot of commitment to get it right and is not like opening a bag or a can. It is the best thing you can do for your cats.

I recommend you join the Yahoo group Holisticat or Feline Future to find people who will gladly share their experience, recipes and give you support through the whole process. There are a number of other groups on Yahoo too. Those two are just two I visit frequently.

Actually taurine is present in all raw meat, especially hearts. It is no longer an issue in cat food as it has been added to all commercial cat food for the last ten years.Taurine is destroyed by cooking so the raw meat is the greatest source.

    .
Be careful with home recipes for cat food. There is an ingredient in commercial and vet cat food that prevents enlargement of the heart. I believe it's Taurine, but don't hold me to that. Many strays die of this disease because they don't have access to this ingredient. They must have access at an early age, or their heart will enlarge at about the age of two, and kill them even with treatment by the age of 5. The voice of experience with a stray kitten...
if you make your own cat food you will possibly miss out on some additives that are beneficial for cats that the good foods put in... certainly the foods sold in Wal Mart and grocery stores are CRAP but there are good foods out there

cats are true carnivours they need primarily meat protein - some plant matter is ok, rice in particular

milk and fish are BAD since they have high amounts of calcium and calcium contributes to urinary tract health problems and of course cats are lactose intollerant so shouldnt have milk anyhow... (or cheese...)

pumkin and beet pulp are ok and help with hairballs and digestion

I want to make dinner for my boyfriend. What are recipes of quick, easy foods that are also fancy looking?

I don't know why I can't answer twice, so I'll add it here! Here's a couple recipes that are easy but he won't know it!

Darn! Meant to say, you can use shrimp instead of chicken in this one %26amp; it's sooo good!

Chicken %26amp; Broccoli Alfredo with Peppers

Chicken, raw-diced (boneless/skinless is easiest, I usually use 1 large breast) 1/2 sliced onion 1 1/2 cups diced peppers (I use green, red, yellow - whatever) garlic, salt, pepper to taste: add all into large frying pan (use olive oil or butter if not a non-stick pan) cook on medium til done. Pour in 1 jar alfredo sauce, add 1/4 cup milk to the empty jar, shake it up, pour that in, simmer on low while you cook the pasta (I do 4 servings of linguine) %26amp; steam or microwave the fresh broccoli florets. If you want to cheat on the broccoli, thaw frozen florets ahead of time %26amp; cook right in the pasta pot. Put pasta on plate, then broccoli, and spoon alfredo mix over it. This takes me about 45 minutes, start to finish, but it's easier than it sounds! And tastes great with garlic bread %26amp; salad, or alone!

    Steak or Pork Stir Fry

Steak or pork, cut into strips. Package of frozen stir fry veggies, pre-made jar sauce or package you mix- I use teriyaki or sweet and sour. 1/2 can pineapple chunks (drained) Rice or thin noodles. Start rice now if using non-instant. Mix meat, sauce %26amp; pineapple in frying pan, cook on medium until meat is done. While that's cooking, start instant rice or noodles cooking AND the veggies. I microwave the veggies for 2 minutes less than the package says %26amp; toss them in the sauce mix for 2 minutes instead. Mix meat/veggies, put on top of rice or pasta. Sprinkle it with sesame seeds if you want to dress it up.

Hope these make sense! Any questions, ask. I have a good spaghetti pie recipe too. Good luck!

What kinds of food does he like? Or dislike, for that matter? I have a few recipes for chicken, steak, broccoli, alfredo but it would help to have more info about his %26amp; your tastes.I want to make dinner for my boyfriend. What are recipes of quick, easy foods that are also fancy looking?
I would spend time making some yummy and cute appetizers. My fiancee (who also likes food of all kinds) really loves hammy roll-ups. buy a pound of that cheap rectangle ham--';deli ham'; not the fancy honey or smoked. spread room temp cream cheese on each piece. roll up a washed green onion in it, then carefully slice (about 1/2 in) so that you have cute swirls of ham. If you don't like green onion, you can also use pickle instead.

you could also buy some of those mine egg rolls-mmmm

Whatever you serve, make it well-rounded. serve bread w/maybe some seasonings and olive oil for dipping, a veggie, and dessert--you could do shortcake or buy one of those sara lee square cakes.

set the table nice, clean up the kitchen some, light a few candles etc. :)

Oh, and if you have time/motivation, this link is good and easy, too. :)even if you've never roasted a chicken.I want to make dinner for my boyfriend. What are recipes of quick, easy foods that are also fancy looking?

Hi, im wanting easy recipes for finger foods for a wedding?

Hi, im getting married next year and want some easy ideas for fingerfoods...canapes that are simple yet tasty , im looking for cold fingerfoods as it will be in the warmer months .

thanks in advance :)Hi, im wanting easy recipes for finger foods for a wedding?
    FAIRYBREAD FAIRYBREAD FAIRYBREAD!

...You don't know what fairybread is? LE GASP! Then you're not aussie!

Bread + margarine/butter + hundreds and thousands (those coloured lumps of sugar) and you have it! The most tastiest thing ever for kids birthday parties!!!

...What kind of caring drunk mother thought of that one, eh?

:D BUT SO YUMMEH!Hi, im wanting easy recipes for finger foods for a wedding?
i think you should make small creamed rice bowls, like little containers that you can eat out of.

it can be eaten cold or warmed

you should get 1 litre of milk and 2 cups of rice and stir in some juice or honney and a little sugar if needed, maybe even some fruit pieces cut up finely and then maybe some cinnamon.

keep stirring until all milk is soaked up and it is cooked.

    good luck with your wedding!
    I love this site: check it out=== allrecipes.com --

One of easy things to is make up tuna, chicken, and egg salad. I get these mini-buns and make tiny sandwiches. I am unfamiliar with what kind of bread products you have down under. They are about 1/2 the size of a hamburger roll. They can be assembled a day ahead and still be great.

I hope you have a lovely wedding! You are so smart in planning ahead!

Now off to google Fairy Bread---
not sure how fancy you want the finger foods to be, but here are some ideas. You can find recipes for these on most recipe sites.

    crab ragoons

    jellied meatballs

    bacon wrapped water chestnuts

    chicken wings

cucumber/cream cheese/dill on small rye bread

mini cherry/blueberry cheese cakes made in mini muffin tins (Paula Dean has a recipe on food network site)

Try adding yogurt and fresh veggies and fruits (uncooked and no dipping sauces) in place of potatoes, rice, bread also eat your meat grilled or broiled to reduce fat. Sensible switching and eating the same calories will work. You need to eat more foods that burn calories and less fat since it stores calories. You can eat cheese and yogurt since they actually help eliminate fat from the body. Good Luck!Does anyone have some good easy recipes for healthy foods?

I'm doing food 4 my Dads funeral n need easy cheap finger food recipe's that i can do the day before! HELP!!!!

Taco Boats are good and will fill up an empty stomach and may even make some forget their grief for a moment.

    Wonton Wraps

    2 pounds hamburger meat

    1 large sweet onion chopped

2 pkts. of Ranch Dressing Mix, dry

    Grated Cheddar Cheese

Pre-bake the wraps in a muffin tin and transfer them to a cookie sheet as you bake. They will make little bowls. You can find the wraps in the produce section.

Brown your meat and chopped onion and drain. Mix in the two pkts. of Ranch Dressing Mix and stir well.

Spoon into bowls and top with grated cheese and place back in the oven to melt the cheese.

But really, it was your father, the food should be brought to you instead of you having to worry about i. You have enough on your plate as it is.

    Sorry for your loss dear.

These heat up well without the wraps getting soggy. Wonton wraps are pretty solid once baked.

    Bean Salad with a twist!

Get about five cans of mixed beans, drain them and add them to a bowl with a large bottle of French Dressing. Have two bags of Frito Corn Chips ready when you are ready to serve and dump them in and mix well. Good protein and fiber and the Frito's makes this special.

This does not even have to be refrigerated, just make sure you mix the Frito's when you are ready for everyone to eat and not before.

It will disappear.I'm doing food 4 my Dads funeral n need easy cheap finger food recipe's that i can do the day before! HELP!!!!

    Relish and cheese trays?

olives, pickles, veggies, dip, cheese, crackers.

Maybe some sort of cracker spreads, too.

A good one is: finely shredded cheddar cheese, canned or jarred pimentos( drained) and salad dressing. It's really delicious.
finger sandwiches (egg, tuna, ham spread)

    cookies

    cupcakes

Pinwheels (tortillas, cream cheese, lunch meat, lettuce and roasted bell peppers in the jar by the pickle section) make into a wrap then cut into finger size sandwiches

    chips and dip

    veggie tray with dips

    Hope this helps
ok first of all as everyone said so sorry. i know what thats like you really dont need to be worrying about food right now.

i would suggest buying a platter if not:

pigs in a blanket- pillsbury crescent rolls in te tube and get the cocktail weiners in the plastic package easy just put tem together.

veggie platter-just get like 4 cheap veggies cherry toms no cutting. get a lg sour cream and a package of hidden valley ranch ranch dip mix for dip. easy cheap. good luck
So sorry about the loss of your father. :( Pasta salad, egg salad sandwiches, macaroni salad, sliced cheese and pepperoni cubes, cook a ham and slice it for sandwiches...

Not sure if that helps but maybe a couple will work for you.
I am so sorry for your loss.

Buy some rolls and get some meat trays.

    make it easy for yourself

    God bless
    So sorry to hear that...

Lots of people call us for times like these, I'd suggest calling a local sandwich shop, it'll save you time, and probably won't cost much more than if you did it yourself.

If you have 50 people, ask for 25 sandwiches cut in half, or quarters, and pick them up the day of the funeral. You can bulk up the rest of the table with chips, pretzels, dips, fruit, salads that sort of thing.

Ask friends and family for help, that's what they are there for in times like these, they won't mind.

    Good luck ...

    So sorry.
I am sorry for your lose. If you have a membership to a local wholesale club or even at your local supermarket they have lots of finger foods that are easily baked in your oven
very sorry for your loss, i would do a buffet table mixed with all different stuff

    potato salad, macaroni salad

    a cheese plate

    a cold meats plate

you could do some sausage rolls, spring rolls,

you could also do a plate of sandwiches egg salad, tuna salad

you could put out some kaiser buns and people could make sandwiches out of the cold meats and cheese trays
this link is geared toward poker party foods. But the ideas are really good, easy, and cheap. I tried them and will do them again often.

    http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/653627/easy_alternatives_to_standard_poker.html?cat=22
my sympathy. first of all the day is bad enough get a cold cut tray and let the people make there own food get salads pre made some soda juice and dont forget the liquor because people do lock to toast the person who died

What are some healthy foods/recipes that are easy to make?

My boyfriend has high blood pressure and is 40 pounds over weight for his age, only 19 years old. He eats very unhealthy foods, like fast food every day. I want to help him change that, and get healthy. By doing so, im willing to make him food everyday that is good for him, but im not to sure of anything that is healthy, yet still tastes good to eat. Please send me recipes or just ideas of what I could make him. Thanks =]What are some healthy foods/recipes that are easy to make?
There are lots of options to be healthy, but remember to include some good fats and flavor in your recipies because otherwise he won't want to stick to his new diet and will end up binging. Not good. Also, no frying (!) and the less butter or oil you use the better.

Any kind of chicken or fish broiled or grilled (with creative seasonings to change it up) is great paired with fresh steamed veggies w/ salt and pepper. sounds boring but it's great if you spice it up with herbs, light cheeses, lemon zest, etc., you can have different flavors all the time.

Get light italian dressing and drizzle over sliced tomatoes, cucumbers and low fat feta cheese for a side dish.

My favorite snack right now is baby carrots with hummus (roasted red pepper flavor) and it's awesome. filling and flavorful and light on calories. If ever in doubt, wrap your favorite salad, easy on dressing, in a pita or something.

These are only ideas, nothing fancy, but hopefully it helps! What are some healthy foods/recipes that are easy to make?
Any grilled white meat is the healthiest, mainly chicken and fish. Steamed veggies are good too. Go on www.allrecipes.com
I think that's great that you want to help! The first step is making sure there are healthy snacks around. Yogurt instead of ice cream, fruit like bananas and apples instead of potato chips (or at least the baked kind of potato chips if he has to have them), use whole grain bread instead of white bread, etc. Carrots with ranch dressing is a classic great snack too.

My family enjoys stir frys with broccoli, sweet peppers, and carrots. Basically, you just cut up the vegetables and saute them in a pan that you sprayed Pam on. Pour on some soy sauce for flavor. Make some rice in a separate pot (buy plain long grain rice or yellow rice and follow the directions on the package) and serve the vegetables over the rice. You can put shrimp or chicken or even strips of steak in your stir fry. If you use different colors of peppers, it's a really pretty dish. You can even buy pre-made stir frys in the frozen section of the grocery store (like Create-a-Meal or other brands).
awww. that's so sweet! Well, you can look on the food network website. www.foodnetwork.com. I'm sorry, I can't help you if you're not looking for links.

1/2 pound raw eye of round, sirloin, London broil or tri-tip steak, thinly sliced across the grain (1/16 inch thick; freeze for 15 minutes to make it easier to slice)

1 medium yellow onion, sliced paper-thin, left to soak for 30 minutes in a bowl of cold water

3 or 4 scallions, green part only, cut into thin rings

    1/3 cup chopped cilantro (ngo)

    Ground black pepper

Optional garnishes arranged on a plate and placed at the table:

Sprigs of spearmint (hung lui) and Asian/Thai basil (hung que)

Leaves of thorny cilantro (ngo gai)

    Bean sprouts (about 1/2 pound)

Red hot chiles (such as Thai bird or dragon), thinly sliced

    Lime wedges

    Prepare the broth:

Char onion and ginger. Use an open flame on grill or gas stove. Place onions and ginger on cooking grate and let skin burn. (If using stove, turn on exhaust fan and open a window.) After about 15 minutes, they will soften and become sweetly fragrant. Use tongs to occasionally rotate them and to grab and discard any flyaway onion skin. You do not have to blacken entire surface, just enough to slightly cook onion and ginger.

Let cool. Under warm water, remove charred onion skin; trim and discard blackened parts of root or stem ends. If ginger skin is puckered and blistered, smash ginger with flat side of knife to loosen flesh from skin. Otherwise, use sharp paring knife to remove skin, running ginger under warm water to wash off blackened bits. Set aside.

Parboil bones. Place bones in stockpot (minimum 12-quart capacity) and cover with cold water. Over high heat, bring to boil. Boil vigorously 2 to 3 minutes to allow impurities to be released. Dump bones and water into sink and rinse bones with warm water. Quickly scrub stockpot to remove any residue. Return bones to pot.

Simmer broth. Add 6 quarts water to pot, bring to boil over high heat, then lower flame to gently simmer. Use ladle to skim any scum that rises to surface. Add remaining broth ingredients and cook 1 1/2 hours. Boneless meat should be slightly chewy but not tough. When it is cooked to your liking, remove it and place in bowl of cold water for 10 minutes; this prevents the meat from drying up and turning dark as it cools. Drain the meat; cool, then refrigerate. Allow broth to continue cooking; in total, the broth should simmer 3 hours.

Strain broth through fine strainer. If desired, remove any bits of gelatinous tendon from bones to add to your pho bowl. Store tendon with cooked beef. Discard solids.

Use ladle to skim as much fat from top of broth as you like. (Cool it and refrigerate it overnight to make this task easier; reheat befofe continuing.) Taste and adjust flavor with additional salt, fish sauce and yellow rock sugar. The broth should taste slightly too strong because the noodles and other ingredients are not salted. (If you've gone too far, add water to dilute.) Makes about 4 quarts.

Assemble bowls: The key is to be organized and have everything ready to go. Thinly slice cooked meat. For best results, make sure it's cold.

Heat broth and ready noodles. To ensure good timing, reheat broth over medium flame as you're assembling bowls. If you're using dried noodles, cover with hot tap water and soak 15-20 minutes, until softened and opaque white. Drain in colander. For fresh rice noodles, just untangle and briefly rinse in a colander with cold water.

Blanch noodles. Fill 3- or 4-quart saucepan with water and bring to boil. For each bowl, use long-handle strainer to blanch a portion of noodles. As soon as noodles have collapsed and lost their stiffness (10-20 seconds), pull strainer from water, letting water drain back into saucepan. Empty noodles into bowls. Noodles should occupy 1/4 to 1/3 of bowl; the latter is for noodle lovers, while the former is for those who prize broth.

If desired, after blanching noodles, blanch bean sprouts for 30 seconds in same saucepan. They should slightly wilt but retain some crunch. Drain and add to the garnish plate.

Add other ingredients. Place slices of cooked meat, raw meat and tendon (if using) atop noodles. (If your cooked meat is not at room temperature, blanch slices for few seconds in hot water from above.) Garnish with onion, scallion and chopped cilantro. Finish with black pepper.

Ladle in broth and serve. Bring broth to rolling boil. Check seasoning. Ladle broth into each bEasy healthy asian food recipes? I just know http://homepages.nyu.edu/~jd1506/?

I love just having steamed artichokes with a little melted garlic butter to dip in--you just trim the stem and top, and steam in a vegetable steamer until a knife goes through the base/stem easily.

Things like leeks and broccoli are really good in soups and stir-fries. I love making potato-leek soup, where I saute the sliced leeks in a little butter, then add diced potatoes and cover that with some vegetable stock and a little bit of cream, and let that simmer until the potatoes are soft. I take half of the potatoes with the broth and puree it in a blender, and return that to the pot, add some salt %26amp; pepper, and stir.

    Greek Chicken

    2 1/2 - 3 pound chicken

    2 lemons

    1 orange

5 nice sized sprigs of rosemary

    A handful of fresh oregano

    5-6 large cloves garlic

1 - 2 tablespoons dried red chili pepper flakes

    salt

Roughly chop 1 lemon, orange, 4 garlic cloves and mix in a bowl with a teaspoon or so of salt. Add a few sprigs of rosemary and about as much oregano. Stir in a tablespoon chili pepper flakes. You're not going to be eating this stuffing, so don't worry about it. It keeps the chicken extremely moist and gives it tons of taste.

Finely chop the rest of the rosemary, oregano, and garlic. Mix with salt and red pepper flakes. Rub this mixture between the skin and the meat of the bird. Slice remaining lemon and add the slices between the skin and meat of the bird.

Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Uncover and let it bake to brown for about another 45 minutes.

Yoghurt dip - (Tzatziki) - this is so simple and tastes great:

    You need:

    1/2 kilo strained yoghurt

    1 cucumber

4 garlic cloves (more makes it with stronger taste)

    salt

    oil

    vinegar

    Method:

Grate the garlic and mix it with salt and vinegar. Peel the cucumber, grate it and squeeze it until all its water is removed. Put the yoghurt into a bowl and add the cucumber into it. Then mix the yoghurt with the mixture of grated garlic. Whiz the content until all the ingredients are well mixed. Add some oil. Yoghurt dip can be served in a normal temparature but it is rather prefered cold.

Chop parsnip, onion, zucchini and sweet potato into equal-sized pieces, toss in oil mixture, add garlic and curry leaves and spread onto a flat baking tray.
